Azusa Tashiro, a distinguished musician and educator, has dedicated over 10 years of her life to nurturing the musical talents of students of all ages and levels. Hailing from Chiba, Japan, her musical journey began when she started solfège training at the age of three and violin studies at four. Her passion for music led her to continue studying at Toho Gakuen School of Music, earning a Bachelor of Music degree. She then completed a Master of Music degree from DePaul University School of Music, where she studied with Ilya Kaler.
Azusa’s Suzuki teacher training mentor was Ed Kreitman. To date, many of of her students have been accepted into prestigious orchestras such as the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra and Midwest Young Artists.
When teaching, she focuses on developing students' abilities to analyze and solve problems independently. She believes that by nurturing independent learners and fostering a growth mindset, students thrive not only in their musical journey but also in the multifaceted challenges they may encounter throughout life.
As an accomplished violinist, Azusa is currently serving as the Concertmaster of the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra. Additionally, she holds principal positions in both the South Bend Symphony Orchestra and the Rockford Symphony Orchestra. She has appeared as a soloist with the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra, Lakeshore Symphony Orchestra, College of DuPage Chamber Orchestra, and Northwestern University Orchestra. Her performance has been heard numerous times on WGN Radio, WGN-TV, and WFMT.
When Azusa finds free time, she indulges in her other passions: cooking, eating and playing with her cat, Gabriel von Eisenstein.

Alba Layana Izurieta is a violinist from Ecuador currently based in Chicago. She has performed as a Violin Fellow with the Grant Park Music Festival and as an Associate Member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. She holds a Master of Music degree from Northwestern University, where she studied the Suzuki Method, and a Bachelor of Music degree from Louisiana State University. Her mentors include Desirée Ruhstrat and Espen Lilleslåtten.
Alba’s career highlights include appearing on Louisiana Public Broadcasting's Ziggy’s Arts Adventures in 2021, as well as being featured on TVeo Canal Regional in Mexico and Ecuavisa in Ecuador. She also celebrates her cultural heritage by performing Latin American music with her family and friends at venues across Ecuador and the United States.
Passionate about teaching, Alba draws on her family’s rich musical tradition to inspire her students. She teaches violin, fiddle, and piano, working with students of all levels. Fluent in English and Spanish, Alba is currently accepting violin students in both languages.

Christopher Ferrer is a member of Lakeshore Rush and principal cellist of Camerata Chicago.
Christopher has toured, recorded and performed internationally as an orchestral and chamber musician. His recording credits include the soundtrack for Spike Lee's Chi-Raq and music for the 2020 film Dreaming Grand Avenue. He has performed with My Morning Jacket and Chance the Rapper – as well as with the Chicago Children's Chorus, Chicago Jazz Philharmonic, Chicago Sinfonietta, New Millennium Orchestra, and The Florida Orchestra. Christopher traveled with the Broadway North American Tour of West Side Story, giving performances throughout the United States and Canada. He is also featured as a guest artist on the award-winning album American Melting Pot as part of the premier recording of Ilya Levinson's Shtetl Scenes for piano trio.
As a member of Lakeshore Rush, Christopher presents classical chamber music alongside the music of living composers, including premiers and new commissions by Laura Schwendinger, Beth Bradfish, and Amos Gillespie. Projects over the past eight seasons include residency at Avaloch Farms Music Institute and performances for Merit School of Music, Thirsty Ears, the Chicago Composers' Consortium, New Music Chicago and the George Crumb festival at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Christopher has also presented programs for the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA), The National Flute Association (NFA), University of Illinois in Chicago, and Lawrence University.
Born in Valencia, Venezuela, Christopher began studying cello through the Community School for the Arts in Wheaton, IL at the age of seven and was later a member of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Hall School Baroque Festival Orchestra. He attended the Royal College of Music in London and Northern Illinois University, studying with many cellists in private lesson and master class including Ann Griffin, John Sharp, Cheng-Hou Lee, Yehuda Hanani, Alastair Blayden and Alexander Boyarsky. Christopher also received chamber music lessons and coachings from Julian Jacobsen, Janet Hilton, Warren Jones, and Lewis Kaplan.

Willie McLellan has performed and taught violin and viola in Chicago for the last decade. He is an experienced orchestral musician, having played with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Elgin Symphony Orchestra, and Sinfonietta. Willie also greatly enjoys playing chamber music. He was a member of Chicago Symphony’s MusiCorps outreach program that educated and performed for audiences in schools and park spaces. In 2019 he co-founded the Kolmar Music Collective, a mixed ensemble that performs works of diverse and underrepresented composers. In the summer of 2021 he was a featured performer in a string quartet at the American Suzuki Institute in Stevens Point.Willie has a performance degree from UW-Madison in violin. He studied viola performance at DePaul University and Northern Illinois University, where he was a teaching assistant to Tony Devroye. Willie began his Suzuki Method teacher training with Ed Kreitman and continued with Rolando Freitag.
As a teacher, Willie enjoys working with students of all levels. He believes learning to play with physical ease is fundamental to the lifelong enjoyment of an instrument. At weekly lessons he aims to give his students personalized instructions to improve their technique, listening and reading fluency, and musicality.
When he is not busy on the music scene Willie enjoys cooking new vegetarian recipes, biking the streets of Chicago, and playing competitive foosball.
